Spend your next summer just a few miles from Manhattan, NYC. If you want to visit the major attractions of New York City on your days off, this is a perfect opportunity for you!
All of the properties are luxury apartments that require great customer service. The pool and pool area must be clean at all times. It is also your responsibility to verify that every person that visits the facility is a resident of the property and must sign in. The majority of pools are just for one guard.
Total average summer wage: $10918 (This figure is based on a student survey. The amount depends on the start date, end date, and total number of working hours)
Guaranteed hours: 50 hours per week.
Overtime: 1,5x wage for any hour over 40 per week
Uniform: free
A one-piece bathing suit must also be worn by all female students!
Housing is not provided. We have landlord contacts from last year’s students, so we can share them with this year’s participants.
Once the students find housing accommodations they are interested in, they send us the information. We then meet with the person renting to verify that everything is according to what is advertised. It’s happened in the past that students find something on Craigslist or something like that, and it turns out to be fake. So, we do this as an added layer of protection for the students.
Before coming to the USA, you need to find your housing and report your current housing search status to your employer.
How to get there? ✈
Lifeguards should try to arrive at Newark International Airport in Newark, NJ. It is the closest airport to the pool locations and public transportation is easily available. The employer advises you to go straight to your accommodations and contact them as soon as you are settled in so they can plan to meet with you. If you have any troubles, you can always call the employer.

Public transportation in New Jersey and New York is reliable and connects all the major areas. You can easily get from Jersey City, NJ to Manhattan by train, bus or ferry in half an hour.
